The writer illuminates language-born bias everybody is victim to when discussing CEO pay. Example: "CEO X earned over 30 million dollars last year. " No, CEO X was paid that amount. The word earn is not objective; it connotes hard work and slants the argument in favor of the executive, right as we begin to talk about whether the amount has any relation to the value brought to company by the person's services.
